You’re playing offense and defense at the same time.

Growing revenue, modernizing systems, and adopting AI while managing regulatory pressure and protecting client data. That’s the reality for Canadian financial institutions today. Banks, insurance companies, and other financial organizations can’t afford to choose between innovation and resilience. They need a technology foundation that supports both.

Move faster without taking on more risk.

CBTS partners with banks, insurers, and capital markets firms across North America to strengthen what AI, cloud, and modernization depend on, and to operate it with one accountable team. You bring the business objectives. We bring senior engineering depth and a vendor-agnostic partner ecosystem, so you move faster, stay resilient, and keep the trust your customers expect.

 Infrastructure mastery

The compute, network, and storage foundations AI demands aren’t theoretical for us. Three decades of enterprise infrastructure experience means we’ve already solved the problems most organizations are about to encounter.

CBTS_IconSet_Green (7)

 Security by design

We integrate AI-specific security capabilities from day one — eliminating the primary concern that keeps most organizations from deeper AI adoption.

CBTS_IconSet_Green (8)

 Battle-tested at enterprise scale

You shouldn’t be the test case. CBTS implements AI in our own operations before we bring it to clients — so what we deliver is proven in production, not piloted on your time and budget.

Six ways we help Canadian financial institutions build stronger foundations

AI & data

AI & data

Get AI into production with governance your regulators can audit.

Most Canadian financial institutions have AI pilots. Few have a repeatable path to production. We help you prioritize high-value use cases, build the operating model and governance controls that regulated environments require, and get AI from idea to go-live at scale.

Cloud

Cloud

Resilience across clouds

OSFI’s third-party risk and concentration risk guidelines are pushing Canadian financial institutions toward hybrid and multi-cloud architectures. U.S. Patriot Act and CLOUD Act exposure adds further pressure. We help you reduce hyperscaler dependency, meet Canadian data residency requirements, and find the right fit across public cloud, private cloud, and colocation.

Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity

Security tailored for Canadian financial services

AI is changing both the attack surface and the tools available to defend it. We help Canadian financial institutions assess their security posture, implement zero trust and SASE frameworks, and access 24x7 SOC coverage. We bring the infrastructure expertise to recover full operations when a breach and an outage happen simultaneously.

Application

Modernize without disrupting what works

Legacy applications carry decades of business logic and real risk when left unaddressed. Unlike firms that stop at strategy, OnX delivers end-to-end execution: assessment, implementation, and ongoing operations. We design with Canadian data residency, privacy, and risk governance requirements built in from day one.

Where they started: A regional credit union needed a single, end-to-end IT partner to implement, manage, and monitor its systems, and to meet rising regulatory and data-protection requirements without expanding its own team.

The foundation we built together: CBTS migrated IT operations to a secure CBTS cloud environment, including the core processing application running on IBM Power Systems. We added offsite backup to a secondary location for compliance, implemented Active Directory to strengthen security and data protection, and managed enterprise backups, antivirus, network, and firewalls across the data center and branches.

What they're building now: The IT team no longer spends its time patching software and managing hardware. Built-in security and compliance address regulatory requirements, and shifting from CapEx to OpEx gives the credit union a predictable monthly cost, so it can expand into new markets and enroll new members more easily.

Let’s talk about where your AI foundation stands.

Frequently asked questions

How does OnX approach AI readiness for Canadian financial institutions?

For financial institutions, the challenge is building a repeatable, auditable path from AI idea to production. We start with use case prioritization — scoring initiatives against value, data readiness, and regulatory risk — then design the operating model, governance controls, and readiness gates that let you scale AI responsibly without creating net-new bureaucracy. Forge AI is how we bring that full journey together.

How do you help financial institutions manage regulatory requirements?

Whether it’s third-party risk management, operational resilience, or data residency, we factor your compliance obligations into the design from day one, so you’re not retrofitting controls later. Our team understands the full Canadian regulatory landscape and brings that governance context to every engagement.

Can OnX support a hybrid or multi-cloud environment without replacing what we already have?

Yes, and that’s usually the right approach. Most organizations have made significant investments in existing infrastructure and cloud relationships.  We design hybrid and multi-cloud architectures that reduce dependency and improve resilience, while keeping Canadian data residency requirements front and centre. For institutions with deep dependencies on a single provider that have concentration risk, a phased approach — assessing current workloads, identifying candidates for diversification, and modeling scenarios across public cloud, private cloud, and colocation — is typically the most practical path forward.

How is OnX different from going directly to a hyperscaler like Microsoft or AWS?

Hyperscalers are strong at their own platforms, but they don’t own accountability for how those platforms perform inside your specific Canadian regulatory environment. OnX does. We help you get the most out of your cloud investments while managing the integrations, compliance obligations, and operational complexity that hyperscalers leave to you. As a vendor-agnostic partner, we can also evaluate whether a different mix of providers, including private cloud or colocation, serves your risk profile and regulatory obligations better than a single-cloud relationship.

How do you handle engagements where different divisions have different technology priorities?

We see this consistently in Canadian financial services, where capital markets, wealth management, and retail banking often run on different systems with distinct regulatory obligations and priorities. Our approach starts with understanding that complexity, mapping it rather than flattening it, and designing solutions that serve each division within a coherent enterprise architecture.

How should financial institutions prepare for the growing complexity of cybersecurity threats?

The threat landscape is more complex than it was two years ago, and AI is both expanding the attack surface and giving defenders better tools. The organizations best positioned to respond are building a security posture grounded in sound governance: clear accountability for risk, frameworks that the whole organization understands, and controls designed into the environment rather than layered on top. OnX helps Canadian financial institutions assess where they stand today, implement frameworks like zero trust and SASE, and access 24x7 SOC coverage backed by infrastructure expertise. When a breach and an outage happen simultaneously, which is increasingly common, most security providers can handle the forensics. OnX can also recover the network and restore operations.

Let’s build something that lasts.
